The Communications and Information Dissemination

(Gwenyth Bailey Simpson*)Award


The Communications and Information Dissemination (Gwenyth Bailey Simpson*) Award provides funds to support projects that disseminate information to the public on current developments on topics related to food, general nutrition, or consumer information. Use of any and all current media is welcome.


Amount:  Up to $2,000 will be granted annually. More than one award of lesser value may be granted. 

Projects to be considered: Projects in Canada that provide information to the public on topics related to food, general nutrition, or general consumer information, and that involve a home economist1 or professional in a related field.

1 graduates from a university program in home economics, human ecology, nutrition, family studies, consumer studies, and related areas 

Deadline: Deadline is January 31. The committee may consider extensions to the application deadline. 

Application Procedure: Submit the General Grant Application Form as an email attachment  

Post-Project:  A report and original receipts will be due at the completion of the project; any unused funds must be returned.

*The Gwenyth Bailey Simpson Fund was established by the family of Ontario freelance home economist Gwenyth Bailey Simpson following her death in 1984. Active in the Consumers’ Association of Canada, Gwenyth also wrote newspaper food columns and taught microwave cooking classes. This award recognizes her interests, and is funded by the Gwenyth Bailey Simpson Fund, administered by the Canadian Home Economics Foundation.
